Glossary of North Pagan Cosmology

What are the archetypes, the stories, the interplay of sacred legends teaching us about how to live more effectively? Unlike others, we can explain this with full knowledge that it is the living Forces of living Gods, Goddesses, Fates, Jotuns (ED’s), Alfar, Disir, Nissir, in short, a multidimensional life, brimming with life at all levels, that we feel and observe, that these are not merely clever stories and more than the Gods and Goddesses of our Folk are mere archetypes, even though They do carry forth to us archetypal information.

Aldin - fruits of the world-tree, invisible on earth. Later, after the takeover by the proponents of Semitic Mythology, this term was usurped as “fruits of the spirit.” In the Vitkar tradition, we are shown that the Fruits of the World Tree are:
  • Contentment of Self,
  • the Sense of Family Consonance,
  • the Belongingness of Folk,
  • the Reverence of Earth, and
  • the Peace of Mind that comes with living Rightly.
  • Alfar - Elves, nature spirits who are not tied to a particular area. On occasion they interact with humans, such as "playing" interdimensional tricks on people, like putting back into a place you already looked an item that was lost. The Ljusalfar, the light elves, are sometimes perceived as orbs. Sometimes they have been seen between large trees where they appeared to be little balls of light, slowly hovering, making some humming sounds, and communicating with those naturally attuned and open to them.
Sometimes our Norse children will speak with them, even be given its name and form a friendship of sorts with a nature spirit. One eight-year old spoke often with one who introduced himself as "Rankochinesius" and who dwelt in a patch of trees a bit further down the hill, specifically in a special copse of sweet gum trees. When another child in the neighborhood saw them, they were like little basketball sized beings of glowing Light walking about on tiny legs in front of her and making a (friendly) growling noise. Elves can appear in many different forms. The world was a richer place full of life in better times.

    Asatruarar path -

auric body - sometimes seen energetically as energy bands which are part of what the Norse call the auric body and what Baron Karl von Reichenbach called the luminosity.

Bekki - in the original Norse, Bekki is a Loki epithet which means "the foe" "the opponent".

Bengta - deliberately focused secondary energy that we, ourselves, generate

Berending - The Norse system of energetic healing used by the traditional Norse shamen.

Berendr - sorcerers. berend is the singular.

The Black Sun is the higher thought, the source of inspiration and Transcendence. That is why the tradition that lining up to it or being even slightly closer to it would align humanity more toward a golden age. Note!: that an SS esoteric society millinea later named itself after the Schwarze Sonne is beside the point to what it is. The Black Sun is positive, the Force of mind, of universal consciousness, the Tao. The Black Sun represents the undifferentiated spiritual force. From it comes the pure black emanation, surtrafeur. Surtafeuer- energy, black, sparkling, energy of the Dark Star, which travels, unlike the Schwarze Sonne around which all else travels.
Here Teutonic Cosmology ties in with and overlaps with Gnostic Cosmology. For those on the gnostic path we recommend John Lamb Lash’s superb translations of the Nag Hammadi Codex. In it Sofia is one of the 7 primordial fires, self-conscious, and living in the same area, the Galactic Center, in which the Black Sun (in modern Astronomy terms, the Great Attractor) is found. She decides to become material and manifests Herself as our living Erde (Earth) whom we know as Frigga.

    Brind -

    dis Disir -

Eir - [the word signifies peace, clemency]. An attendant of Menglod, and the most skillful of all in the healing art. Eir is a Goddess, the Goddess of healing.

    Fiskrjanning -

Fjölsvinnr - an epithet of Odin.

Frey - Njord's son, a Van, sends rain and sunshine upon earth and cares for harvests. Frey was often shown as later was the Roman God, Priapis, as the best-endowed in phallic strength of the Gods, hence the God of Potency, which connects Nordic fertility with that of the harvests.

Freyja - Njord's daughter, a Van, is so full of love that She makes the whole world beautiful with tenderness, and fills the hearts of men with the sweetest joys they ever knew. After an early war between the Gods and the Vans, when peace was made, Njord, Frey and Freyja found homes for themselves in Asgard.

Frigga - the Earth, Terra, one of our beloved Norse Deities.

Fylgia - spirits who works with the individual and is a bringer of tasks and keeper of records. Fylgjar (the R ending means that it is the whole class of beings. An individual has a mannsflygja. All people are shadowed by the Fylgjar.)
There are the mannsflygja, who carries forth to the person both the unfinished Orlagic business of prior incarnations and the capabilities, skills, as proclivities that might have returned to a person from a former life. The Kynnsfylgja of a person carries forth all the traits that she shares, and challenges she faces, from her immediate and extended family. The fact that this happens has recently been recognized scientifically in the studies of the epigenome. A person also has racial characteristics, the broad sort of temperament carried forth by the oettarsfylgja. (double check the oe letter!)

Geldr - references the trackless path in the Seidr. It is the life of discovery, the magical existence and workings.

Geldrfueur - golden celestial and ambient energy on which the vitki can call in healing

Giants - the giants in old Norse times were not easy to conquer; but generally it was when they hid themselves behind lies and appeared to be what they were not that they succeeded for a time.

Ginungagap - The Void. Ginungagap is the undifferentiated, unconscious force, a pure torrent of magical energy that sometimes even hums in certain areas or can be felt as a pulsing in the earth. Ymir, the progenitor of the giants (out of whose body, Odin, Vile and Ve created the world), was formed out of frost and fire in Ginungagap.

Gipte - a special spirit of good fortune, of sudden, unexpected blessings, who occasionally presents these in one's fatestream.

Goðanum - the pantheon of the Gods of Nordic Cosmology

Goðard - the order of goði and gyðja

Grimnir means, Odin, going about in disguise and Harbard means Odin as a giver of prophecies.

Gugnir - Odin's spear which penetrates all mysteries of the 9 Worlds of Cosmos used in scrying / seeing. His spear is the archetype of the acquisitive (or inquisitive? Loki’s representatives here seem acquisitive, but not inquisitive) mind of Nordic Man, always seeking out the most elusive mysteries of life. This is why the 8% of the world that is Caucasian invented most of what we take for granted today in technology, from radio to TV to electric lighting, to the use of surgical stints. It is also why, of that 8%, a disproportionate number of great, pivotal inventors and discoverers were North European.

Hadding - bursts his bonds, sleys the beast (one of Loki's offspring), and eats, in obedience to Odin's instructions, its heart

Hamr - the Seat of the Will. The Hamr is also associated with the Norse God, Thor, who alone wields with great strength his famous magic Hamr.

Hammingja - one's personal guide and guardian

Harbard - Loke speaks of a giant who, in his mind was a valiant one, but whose senses he stole, that is whom he cunningly deprived of thought and reflection. One instance concerns Thjasse, who, seeing his beloved carried away by Loke and his plan about to be frustrated, recklessly rushed into his certain ruin.

Harbard means Odin as a giver of prophecies.

Heimdall - Heimdal is frequently referred to as keen-eyed and faithful hinn hvíti Áss, hvítastr Ása. Heimdall is the guardian of BiFrost. Heimdall eyes are so keen that in darkness as easily as in light He can see a hundred miles distant. His ears are so sharp He can hear the noise-less blossoming of the grass in the deepest valley, and the growing of the wool upon the backs of sheep browsing the hill-tops. Heimdal is voðr goða.
Heimdall is also called "HvitiAs" for He is the Whitest of the Aesir. The fairness of the Gods, Their glowing white Light was always noted in ancient writings, and is so shown in the halos depicting the very White men visiting the Baby Buddha (3 of them). This is the origin of the Three Wise Men of the later Semitic Mind Control copy in the Ajuna or Arjuna Caves, now a World Heritage Site and very fragile. All were depicted that way. Likewise, the "Hari" of "Hari Krishna" after which another cult is named means "Blond Krishna," as in ancient India, blondness assured one's link to the nobility or "Arya" and likelihood that one was a Brahmin.

Heremôd - the one endowed with martial spirit.

Hroptr - Hropt is Odin-the-Prophet one of Odin's names.

Hvergelmir's Fountain - The forces of Regeneration. All our Theological contructs or images, have a location and cause and effect relationship within the archetypal world of Teutonic Theology, just as do the great symbols of the world's other faiths. This fountain is a roaring kettle or roaring cauldron, a spring of hot water.
More importantly, it is the archetype of the force of Regeneration. This archetypal place is echoed later in non-Aryan mythologies as the fountain of youth for which Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon trekked through the SE United States, based on Amerindian legends, and the old German term, Lebensborn or fountain of life. Its echo is even in the use of baptismal fonts, which the Christians took from Druidic baptismal practices.
In the Eddaic fragments, the Fountain is the navel of the sea. Just as the Greek Pagans visualized Delphi as the omphalos, so did ancient Teutons visualize the sea as having a Cosmic Center, which is, once more, a reflection in the collective subconscious of the Schwarze Sonne, the Great Attractor or massive black hole through which stars disappear in a cosmic mill, being spat out the other side as the cosmic dust from which new stars eventually emerge - a regenerative force of great magnitude! The Fountain is near a golden hall, inhabited by Sindre's kinsmen (Sindre - to be explained here soon).
As modern Pagans, we can extrapolate from this archetype that the rock wall and stone gates represents protecting ones' own ancestral lines from disappearing in a rising flood water of brown chaos, like the turbid waters that flooded New Orleans in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina. In ancient times, the regeneration involved valuing of the genetic experience of the heroes, thinkers, and doers, which science today recognizes, as it is finally admitted what our geneticists maintained all along, that through the epigenomes, even within a single or a few generations, the experiences, the coping with the world, our behavior is imprinted on those who follow us (explained well in 1/18/10 edition of Time, Why Genes aren't Destiny).
Liebensborn and Hvergelmir's Fountain were understood together as an upwelling of life-force, the force of Regeneration. In olden times the traits and capacities of our best men was prized. There was a shared vision of upward tribal evolution, unlike today, where jails are filled with impoverished healthy men who fathered through mutual consent. The rock wall also speaks in terms of protection of ones tribe, ones seed, ones women and ones species.
Regeneration is not synonymous with procreation. Regeneration is an important construct in healing, or in meditation, as we seek to regenerate our spirits, not to be ground down by the world, by the necessities, to regenerate from Higher inspiration our sense of optimism and joie de vivre, our ability despite the pressures of forces seeking to exterminate us, both individually and collectively, to look up, to smile, to be cheerful, to look forward to a better day.
There were different local interpretations of Hvergelmir's Fountain, but this was the metaphysical one. At one time, around the 7th century, this wonderous well-spring was once considered to be in the most remote western part of Germany. Of course, someone decided to put it in a particular place, just like the legend of a fountain of youth, but it is not in any one particular geographical location.

Hvitifeuer - white fire drawn mainly to burn away an ailment

jormun - this word appears in all the ancient Teutonic languages and is used to express the idea of great, maximum, universal.

Jormagund - the Midgard-serpent is Loki's spawn, who coils its immense length into great circles over which the glittering eyes wandered restlessly.

Jotuns - the Extradimensional Beings who are variously perceived simultaneously as Many and One. Here Teutonic Cosmology overlaps Classical Cosmology where the Titans are the Creators of reality. In Classical Cosmology the Gods war against them to differentiate, set up order, justice, etc.
Some of the Norse shamen now call upon the Jotuns to assist and push back the genocidal forces here on Terra -- so our Folk might live again, our traditions safely able to be practiced freely among us, and provide us our own lands again here.

Knakve - Here Knakve is referenced in our sacred texts: "When its awareness shined upon the sky-sent sons of Heimdall (men), when oaks and ashes speech and mind were given, called they out for order and spake it, Tyr. Beneath, had always been an order, though none divined it, at the heart of storm and birthing of worlds, always the first, Ginungagap."

KönigsOrðr - connection to the the Gods and Goddesses, point of attachment for the human body to the Cosmic Axis (Mundilfore)- which can be " brought down " especially from the Pole Star.

konr - We work toward our own evolution toward the state of konr, as hinted at in Rigsthula, the heightened state of being in which a human claims for herself the abiltiies that to most are considered now 'paranormal'.

Kynnsfylgja - is one of the levels of Fylgja that that the Fylgjar Brind to a Person. Kynnsfylgja is the tendency of breed where breed is something natural that evolves with and from the natural surroundings of place, common temperament, and traditions of ones own distinct culture and people. Tendencies of family groups reminiscent of Rupert Sheldrake's 'metagenetic' theories and observations. As a particular clan or kinship group ("kynn" in Old Norse is origin of "kin" in English) developed proficiencies in a particular area, this strength became more available to successive generations of persons in that family line, whether the practiced discipline was that of a blacksmith, painter or stock broker. BUT, also the challenges of that line equally were presented, whether it was refraining from criminality, predation, or parasitism. Consider that someone coming from several generations of welfare or gang membership here- that person, even beyond the environmental factors, has a spiritual struggle to overcome the tendency to just auto-repeat the cycles of behavior, the toxic lifestyles.

Loder - one of the creator Gods. Loder gives Ask and Embla litr goða, an inner body formed in the image of the gods; a body which gives to their earthly tabernacle a human divine type

Loke is the archetype of the unethical opportunist, the life ruled by self-service and the willingness to damage one’s Folk, friends, or family for personal gain. In the Eddaic fragments, he is shown as talented and intelligent, but devious and treacherous. In one of the final showdowns of Ragnarok, Heimdall slays him. (please put in the other things you wrote of him:) The true home of Loke was not Asgard, but Jotenheim where he married and had three offspring. Loke's three children of a giantess: {(where was she depicted as “terrible” – where did you copy that comment?) She is in some respects a pitiable figure, as she holds a bowl above his head after he is condemned to have a snake’s corrosive venom drip onto his head for all the ages} what is in brackets are comments for you, not to be published Hel, whose terrible face turned into stone every one looked, unless he were a god. the Midgard-serpent who coils its immense length into great circles over which the glittering eyes wandered restlessly. the Fenris wolf growling with deep and cruel voice.” Loke - Loke had the mind of the gods, who were always working to bring order and beauty into the world, but he had the heart of the giants, who were striving to undo the good and cover the earth with howling storms and icy desolation. The true home of Loke was not Asgard, but Jotenheim where he married and had three children. Loke is fettered in the extreme part of hell, the part of the wicked dead in a subterranean cavern. This is where his deceit, trickery and evil belong!

Loke's three children of a terrible giantess:
Hel, whose terrible face turned into stone every one looked, unless he were a god.
the Midgard-serpent who coils its immense length into great circles over which the glittering eyes wandered restlessly.
the Fenris wolf growling with deep and cruel voice.

Mannsfylgja - is one of the three levels of Fylgja that the Fylgjar brind to a person. Mannsfylgja include the strengths and talents earned in prior lives or a prior life tend to be replayed- hence Beethoven's composing when he was younger than 6 years old ALSO mannsfylgja is the unfinished business, not a punishment, but the challenges left over from prior incarnations, whether this is developing courage, or Will, or the ability to overcome accumulation, or the need to find a work ethic- it, or a combination of many challenges- will be different for each person as determined by these Task-Giver of the Fates.

MiðrOrðr The Orientals call this the Tan-Jun, or Dangjeung, etc. To them, it is a second brain. From our scientific / anatomical perspective, it is a concentrated nerve plexus, not a second brain.

Mimir - the wise giant keeper and ward of the middle root of the world tree. Mimis-brunnr, the burn or spring of Mimir, is the well of wisdom at which Odin keeps ever a watchful eye. When Mimir, the lord of the well of wisdom, was slain, and the world-tree lost its wise guardian, it became subject to the influence of time. All minds link in the Mind of Ošin and all experience merges at Mimir's Well
In Havamįl (138-141) Odin relates that there was a time when he had not yet acquired strength and wisdom. But by self-sacrifice he was able to prevail on the celebrated Bolthorn's son [Mimir], who dwells in the deep and has charge of the meadfountain there and of the mighty runes, to give him (Odin) a drink from the precious mead, drawn from Odroerir: Tha nam ec frovaz
    oc frodr vera
    oc vaxa oc vel hafaz;
    ord mer af ordi
    orz leitadi,
    verc mer af verki
    vercs leitadi.
In translation: Then I began to bloom
    and to be wise,
    and to grow and thrive;
    word came to me
    from word,
    deed came to me
    from deed.

Mitothin - a thoroughly evil being who stroke to dissemble the practice of witchcraft in the world and displace Odin. Saxo history calls Loki Mitothin.

    MišrOršr - In our system of energetic healing, Berending, the Norse Shaman knows that the body has several pulsating centers, or Oršr, centers of the plasma-like energy body that co-occupies space with the physical body that all can see. These Oršr are similar in function to what the Eastern traditional healers term, “chakras,” where they visualize these centers as wheels. This “middle pulsating point” the Orientals call Tan-Jun, or Dangjeung, etc. To them, it is a second brain. From our scientific / anatomical perspective, it is a concentrated nerve plexus, not a second brain. {please begin with what this means to us and use what it means to the Orientals as a secondary tie-in for readers more familiar with that}

mniæ means "remembrance of past lives"

Mundilfore - Mundilfore is the God of the Cosmic Order, and it is a polynomious reference to Ve the Cosmic Axis The Cosmic Axis has many names. The rune Ior is named after it. It is also known as Io. (pronounced eye-oh). (link to the graphic and the article)

    Nine Worlds - the Multiverse.

    Nissir - nature spirits

Njord - the greatest of the Vans, who keeps the winds in the hollow of his hand and vexes the sea with storms or spreads over them the peace of a great calm. After an early war between the Gods and the Vans, when peace was made, Njord and his son and daughter, Frey and Freyja, found homes for themselves in Asgard.

Nornir - the three Fates or Sisters of Wydr: Udr, Skuld and Verdandi. They are the Fates and govern the past, Present and Future. The Nornir do many things. Over Mimir's Well and Urd's fountain hang the roots of the ash, the World Tree. The Norns take daily the water and sprinkle the stem of the world tree, "and the water is so holy" that everything that is put in the well and all that the Norns sprinkle with the water becomes as white as the membrane between the egg and the egg-shell.
Fortunately, even today, the Gods are Seen walking physically in Middle Earth. It has been reported that sometimes they appear in a form that shows them in their very white almost transparent bodily forms. For humans who They choose to show themselves thusly, this phenomenon involves seeing both the clothes they are wearing to blend into a situation as well as the sparkling eyes and form that one can see into clearly. In better times, our Gods were Seen and Walked among our Folk in Alltag. That is what we wish and ask for again, a better world where more of our Folk live naturally with our Gods and they may safely visit and be welcomed by us in Middle Earth.
The Nornir are one of the three families of Deities honoured by the ancient Norse with the Aesir and the Vanir families. Skuld is sometimes pictured with scissors as decisions are made. Verdandi, the present, is also known as Becoming.

Oðr - the one endowed with spirit.

    Oettarsfylgja

    - the tendencies, both strengths and challenges, that are manifest in the larger families to which we all belong- our races. It is not politically correct to note that overseas Chinese are very good at business, or Germans at the sciences, or people of Levantine origin at banking, but these would be examples of some capability-clusters: perhaps some will eventually be identified as explanatory allele groupings, that lead to above-average competencies in a particular area of work. Likewise, though, in the larger sense, when enough of a particular type of person are assembled, they tend to create a particular type of society.

Orvandel - also known as Egil. Orvandel is a star-hero, the great archer. He is engaged to the dis of growth, Groa. It is his duty to defend Midgard against the destructions of frost. He fights in Jotunheim against the same enemies as Thor.

Ratatoskr - the forces of Entry signified by a squirrel that runs up and down the branches of Ygdrasil, the World Tree.

Rigsthula much much later is retold as an early part of RigVeda. When the early Aryans fled Frisia and migrated South and East(???), eventually coming to India, they took their nonmaterial culture with them as well as their knowledge of many other things.
This blended in with extant Dravidian religiosity, resulting in the early Hindi works. Sigurd - eats the heart of the dragon, Fafner and gets wisdom thereby

Sisu - electric blue energy normally travels from earth

    Skirner - Frey's swiftest messenger

Sleipner - Odin's fast 8-legged steed. Hugin [thought] rides on Odin's left shoulder as he swiftly journeys on Sleipnir.

Sokkvabekkr - Saga, the Goddess and Keeper of Truth, lives in Sokkvabekkr. In her mansion Odin and Saga quaff from golden beakers. Sokvabek

Soma - the mead, originally belonged to Mimir alone. The mead gives the gods their creative power and wisdom. From an unknown depth is rises in the lower world directly under the world-tree, whose middle root is watered by the well of the precious liquid. Only by self-sacrifice, after prayers and tears, is Odin permitted to take a drink from this fountain. The drink increases his strength and wisdom, and enables him to give order to the world situated above the lower regions. It blesses the einherjes of Asgard as a beverage, and blesses the people of Midgard as a fructifying honey-dew.

Surtafeur- energy, black, sparkling, energy of the Dark Star, which travels, unlike the Schwarze Sonne around which all else travels.

    Svefnthorn - a sleep-thorne

Sviðherhð - the one endowed with mighty spirit.

Storm-age - the age where men no longer spare nor pity one another

Swan-rings - like Draupner are symbols of fertility, made and owned by the primeval artists. They personified the forces of growth in nature and by those beloved wives, the swan-maids who represented the sagas of vegetation, the bestowers of the myths "mead" or "ale".

Tanngnjóstr and Tannngrisnir - the two goats who draw Thor's thunder chariot.

Thjazi - [Thjassi] a giant; the father of Njord's wife, Skade. His dwelling was Thrymheim. He was slain by Thor. Thjasse
Thjassi is a synonym of Vargr and Gyldir in the various epics. Vargr in Thorsdrapa is an epithet of Thjasse.

Thor's Strength - is a noble thing because he uses it to help men; but his truthfulness and honesty are nobler still.

Urdr - The Norn of the past. Urdr works with and keeps the past Fate threads. German words like Ursprung come from the concepts understood from this Norn, Urdr. It is good to know that even at times when humans become confused or truthfulness and honesty become lost to them, our beloved Goddesses like Saga and the three Nornir always keep true watch over the past, present and future.

Vans - Gods who rule the seas and the air.

Valkyrie are sent by Odin or Freyja to look over us and carry messages forth. Wagner popularized only one of the Valkyries' many functions which, of course, those who misrepresent our Cosmology also prefer.

    varðir - world-protecting dieties.

Vargat, a term for Goths pushing back against the remnants of Roman conquest and later to save half of Spain from the Moors. It is interesting that “bigot” comes from “Vigotte” which derives from Visigoth. In fact, that region of Spain still bears their name: Catalonia. Goth+Alan Gothalan, later Catalan.

veraldar nagli - the world-nail, the world spike, the fixed point around which the starlit sky rotates. The nail of the Cosmos was set by Tyr.

Verdandi - [To become]. The Norn of the present. The youngest of the Nornir. Always the Fates and the Gods engage each life. The wise keep with Them, in turn, while the fool may fear or trivialize, and is ever alone. Verdandi is the Goddess of Becoming, of the Present Moment. She governs how our present choices collide with already existing conditions to create our personal realities. A person who has difficulties making good decisions or showing wise judgments might pray to Her for the instincts and wisdom to do better in these areas.

Volund - the most famous smith of the mythology and of the heroic sage. The Nifling, Volund, first ornamented Asgard with golden works of art, and subsequently wished to destroy the inhabitants of Asgard in order to be god himself.

Ygdrasil - the sacred ash world-tree.

Yggr - an epithet for Odin in the Saxo history.

Ymir - The huge giant, out of whose body, Odin, Vile and Ve created the world. Ymir is the progenitor of the giants. He was formed out of frost and fire in Ginungagap. Ymer

Knakve, AKA mundilforni, operator of the cosmic mill, makes the physical moon go about her orbit.

As with many of our personalizations of the elements, which to us are living, there is a female and a male aspect. Hence, Mani, after whom Manisdag is named, later Moonday and eventually Monday, is the female aspect, as Sunna and Balder are Solar Deities.

Knakve. When its awareness shined upon the sky-sent sons of Heimdall (men), when oaks and ashes speech and mind were given, called they out for order and spake it, Tyr. Beneath, had always been an order, though none divined it, at the heart of storm and birthing of worlds, always the first, Ginungagap.

Oaettsarsfylgja - the tendencies of Breed. It is a part of the individual's True Self that emerges from the field of our ancestors, the rich accumulated experience of generations of our own Folk. This rises up when others, who wish only the extinction of one's breed or to appropriate all an individual's and all of one's breed's knowledge stores without even acknowledging their origin. For the past millinea, this presents a hitherto unknown challenge to us.

Ásatrú (Icelandic, "Æsir faith") is a modern revival of the pre-Christian Nordic religion as described in the Norse epic Eddas. Ásatrú is an Old Norse word consisting of Ása, referring to the Norse gods, and trú, "troth" or "faith". Thus, Ásatrú means "religion of the Æsir." The term was popularized by Edvard Grieg in his 1870 opera Olaf Trygvason.

C.E. Christian Era. "Early runic writing has been found on the walls of a moutain pass between Italy and Austria. It dates from about 200 BCE (Before the Christian Era)" Alternatively, one could have written 2200 BP (Before Present), which notation is gaining amongst anthropologists and historians. Either one works, but it is good to reference it.

We encourage you to benefit from and copy this work. Please remember that we are not universalists and do not believe that the principles contained herein would be of benefit to "all mankind." We trust the ingenuity and resourcefulness of other peoples to come up with their own evolutionary strategies. Ours assumes self-control, limiting one's consumption of natural resources and production of offspring, not overrunning and exhausting the earth, and other ethics of a distinctly North European flavor. This work should certainly be shared with other North Europeans. All we ask is this: if you copy this work, have the honor to use it whole, as this is more representative of the greater body of spiritual writings from which it is excerpted and will avoid the taking of parts out of context.

http://www.gambanreidistatement.com/GlossaryNSCosmology.html Glossary of North Pagan Cosmology From the archetypes, the stories, the interplay of sacred legends we present this glossary. As the Gambanreišdi Statement explores the concepts presented herein we also will look at what they teach us about how to live more effectively. As shamen of the ancient North traditions, we seek to explain these archetypes and deep teachings with full knowledge that it is the living Forces of living Gods, Goddesses, Fates, Jotuns (ED’s), Alfar, Disir, Nissir, in short, a multidimensional life, brimming with life at all levels, that we feel and observe. These are not merely clever stories and more than the Gods and Goddesses of our Folk are mere archetypes, even though They do carry forth to us archetypal information. Many of our Folk over the centuries have met the Gods and Goddesses in person and, even today, experience the Alfar, Disir and Nisir here in Middle Earth. It is by communicating this knowledge accessibly summarized here that others of our Folk, too, we hope are aided in understanding in context their own experiences in life. We hope it will enhance their Seeing when, for example, an individual's fylgja works with him or a living being slightly outside of this dimension engages the individual for our evolution and betterment. aldin - fruits of the world-tree, invisible on earth.. Later, after the takeover by the proponents of Semitic Mythology, this term was usurped as “fruits of the spirit.” In the Vitkar tradition, we are shown that the Fruits of the World Tree are: Contentment of Self, the Sense of Family Consonance, the Belongingness of Folk, the Reverence of Earth, and the Peace of Mind that comes with living Rightly. Bekki - in the original Norse, Bekki is a Loki epithet which means "the foe" "the opponent". berending - The Norse system of energetic healing traditionally since as long as we can remember by our Norse shamen. berendr - sorcerers. berend is the singular. Eir - [the word signifies peace, clemency]. An attendant of Menglod, and the most skillful of all in the healing art. Eir is a Goddess, the Goddess of healing. Fjölsvinnr - an epithet of Odin. Frey - Njord's son, a Van, sends rain and sunshine upon earth and cares for harvests.. Frey was often later shown as was the Roman God, Priapis, as the best-endowed in phallic strength of the Gods, hence the God of Potency, which connects Nordic fertility with that of the harvests. Fylgjar - (the R ending in the Old Norse means that it is the whole class of beings.) An individual has a mannsflygja. All people are shadowed by the Fylgjar.) There are the mannsflygja, who carries forth to the person both the unfinished Orlagic business of prior incarnations and the capabilities, skills, as proclivities that might have returned to a person from a former life. The Kynnsfylgja of a person carries forth all the traits that she shares, and challenges she faces, from her immediate and extended family. The fact that this happens has recently been recognized scientifically in the studies of the epigenome. A person also has racial characteristics, the broad sort of temperament carried forth by the œttarsfylgja. Giants - the giants in old Norse times were not easy to conquer; but generally it was when they hid themselves behind lies and appeared to be what they were not that they succeeded for a time. Gipte - a special spirit of good fortune, of sudden, unexpected blessings, who occasionally presents these in one's fatestream. Grimnir means, Odin, going about in disguise and Harbard means Odin as a giver of prophecies. Gugnir - Odin's spear which penetrates all mysteries of the 9 Worlds of Cosmos used in scrying / seeing. His spear is the archetype of the inquisitive mind of Nordic Man, always seeking out the most elusive mysteries of life. This is why the 8% of the world that is Caucasian invented most of what we take for granted today in technology, from radio to TV to electric lighting, to the use of surgical stints. It is also why, of that 8%, a disproportionate number of great, pivotal inventors and discoverers were North European. Hadding - bursts his bonds, sleys the beast (one of Loki's offspring), and eats, in obedience to Odin's instructions, its heart Hammingja - one's personal guide and guardian) Harbard - means Odin as a giver of prophecies. Heimdall - Heimdal is frequently referred to as keen-eyed and faithful hinn hvķti Įss, hvķtastr Įsa. Heimdal is vošr goša. Heremōd - the one endowed with martial spirit. Hroptr - Hropt is Odin-the-Prophet, one of Odin's names. Hvergelmir's Fountain - All our Theological contructs or images, have a location and cause and effect relationship within the archetypal world of Teutonic Theology, just as do the great symbols of the world's other faiths. KönigsOršr connection to the the Gods and Goddesses, point of attachment for the human body to the Cosmic Axis (Mundilfore)- which can be " brought down " especially from the Pole Star. konr We work toward our own evolution toward the state of konr, as hinted at in Rigsthula, the heightened state of being in which a human claims for herself the abiltiies that to most are considered now 'paranormal'. Loder - one of the creator Gods. Loder gives Ask and Embla litr goša, an inner body formed in the image of the gods; a body which gives to their earthly tabernacle a human divine type Loke - Loke is the archetype of the unethical opportunist, the life ruled by self-service and the willingness to damage one’s Folk, friends, or family for personal gain. In the Eddaic fragments, he is shown as talented and intelligent, but devious and treacherous. In one of the final showdowns of Ragnarok, Heimdall slays him. Loke had the mind of the gods, who were always working to bring order and beauty into the world, but he had the heart of the giants, who were striving to undo the good and cover the earth with howling storms and icy desolation. The true home of Loke was not Asgard, but Jotenheim where he married and spawned three children. Loke is fettered in the extreme part of hell, the part of the wicked dead in a subterranean cavern. This is where his deceit, trickery and evil belong! Loke's three wicked children spawned of a giantess are: Hel, whose terrible face turned into stone every one who looked, unless he were a god. the Midgard-serpent who coils its immense length into great circles over which the glittering eyes wandered restlessly. the Fenris wolf growling with deep and cruel voice. MišrOršr - In our system of energetic healing, Berending, the Norse Shaman knows that the body has several pulsating centers, or Oršr, centers of the plasma-like energy body that co-occupies space with the physical body that all can see. These Oršr are similar in function to what the Eastern traditional healers term, "chakras", where they visualize these centers as wheels. This "middle pulsating point" the Orientals call Tan-Jun, or Dangjeung, etc. To them, it is a second brain. From our scientific / anatomical perspective, it is a concentrated nerve plexus, not a second brain. For more information about the pulsating centers we recognize, click on the link for MišrOršr. Mitothin - a thoroughly evil being who stroke to dissemble the practice of witchcraft in the world and displace Odin. Saxo history calls Loki Mitothin. Mundilfore - Mundilfore is the God of the Cosmic Order, and it is a polnomous reference to Ve. The Cosmic Axis has many names. The rune Ior is named after it. It is also known as Io. (pronounced eye-oh). Ošr - the one endowed with spirit. &Oelig;ttsarsfylgja - the tendencies of Breed. Önd - Önd is the force of understanding, of “gut ” knowledge, of Willing things into being, centered in the solar plexus. Orvandel - also known as Egil. Orvandel is a star-hero, the great archer. He is engaged to the dis of growth, Groa. It is his duty to defend Midgard against the destructions of frost. He fights in Jotunheim against the same enemies as Thor. Ratatoskr - a squirrel that runs up and down the branches of Ygdrasil, the world tree. Ratatosk Rigsthula occurs much much later in human history and is retold as an early part of RigVeda. When the early Aryans fled Frisia and migrated South and East, eventually coming to India, they took their nonmaterial culture with them as well as their knowledge of many other things. This blended in with extant Dravidian religiosity, resulting in the early Hindi works. Sigurd - eats the heart of the dragon, Fafner and gets wisdom thereby Skirner - Frey's swiftest messenger Sleipner - Odin's fast 8-legged steed. Sokvabek Soma - the mead, originally belonged to Mimir alone. Svefnthorn - a sleep-thorne Svišherhš - the one endowed with mighty spirit. Storm-age - the age where men no longer spare nor pity one another Swan-rings - like Draupner are symbols of fertility, made and owned by the primeval artists. Thjasse Thjassi is a synonym of Vargr and Gyldir in the various epics. Wagner popularized only one of the Valkyries' many functions which, of course, those who misrepresent our Cosmology also prefer. varšir - world-protecting dieties. Vargat, a term for Goths pushing back against the remnants of Roman conquest and later to save half of Spain from the Moors. The word "bigot" comes from Vigotte which derives from Visigoth. In fact, that region of Spain still bears their name: Catalonia. Goth+Alan Gothalan, later Catalan. veraldar nagli - the world-nail, the world spike, the fixed point around which the starlit sky rotates. The nail of the Cosmos was set by Tyr. Verdandi - Verdandi is the Goddess of Becoming, of the Present Moment.
